BUILDING SERVICES DESIGN
Coordinated MEP design.
From concept to construction.
Building services influence space, comfort, energy use and the way a building operates. We develop mechanical and public health designs, coordinating electrical design through established partners.
Discuss your requirementsMechanical and public health engineering
Heating, cooling and ventilation strategies developed around the building use, occupancy and fabric. Public health design considers water demand, storage, distribution and drainage requirements.
- Heating and cooling load assessments
- Ventilation, air distribution and plant selection
- Hot and cold water services
- Above-ground drainage and service coordination
A defined scope at each design stage
We support Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stages 2–5. The appointment sets out the design responsibility, deliverables and interfaces so the team understands what is required at each stage.
- Stage 2: options, design criteria and concept strategies
- Stage 3: developed systems, plant allowances and coordination
- Stage 4: technical drawings, calculations, schedules and specifications
- Stage 5: technical reviews and construction support within the agreed appointment
- Stages 5–6: client-side commissioning, handover and close-out support
Refurbishment and retained services
Existing buildings need careful assessment before a replacement strategy is agreed. We consider available records, survey findings, system capacity, maintainability and the constraints of keeping the building operational.
- Review of existing information and survey requirements
- Plant replacement options and distribution constraints
- Design coordination with architects and contractors
- Electrical design delivered with established partners
